Kuranda has been and continues to be an inspiration for artists, which is why so many great artists have settled here. It is now possible to participate in art worksops while you stay in Kuranda.   4 Day Painting Workshop with Claire Souter Botanical theme painting worshops in oil paints suitable for beginners to advanced. Class sizes are kept small and are held in the friendly, relaxed environment of Claire's gallery in Kuranda, the village in the rainforest of Far North Queensland, Australia. As well as morning tea each day, all materials are supplied, including handmade paper suitable for oil painting (500 mm x 400 mm). A painting of this size or smaller should be suitable to complete in 4 days. The technique involves completing a charcoal drawing from a photo, then applying thin layers of oil glazing with a flexible fast drying medium. Come and learn from Claire Souter (www.clairesoutergallery.com) and stay at Kuranda Villas, the only fully furnished and self-contained holiday accommodation in the centre of Kuranda. Claire Souter Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm and is a short walk from Kuranda Villas. The price includes:- The price of $440.00/per person is for a total of 22 hours of tuition. The price includes:- - 5½ hours of tuition each day with classes from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm Wednesday to Saturday inclusive. - all materials and equipment, including handmade paper suitable for oil painting. - morning tea each day. - daily general admission to the Kuranda MagnaPool Aquatic Centre (1st September to 30 June) and/or Aquafitness Classes held at the Aquatic Centre on the days of the course only. The price of $350.00/person includes a total of 15 hours of tuition. A maximum of 10 students for each workshop. Classes start on Saturday on fixed dates throughout the year. Upcoming workshops will commence subject to a minimum of 4 students booking a workshop for it to take place. Next workshop dates:- Saturday, 18th September Saturday, 25th September Saturday, 23rd October Saturday, 30th October Saturday, 20th November Saturday, 27th November The price includes:- - 5 hours of tuition each day with classes from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday to Monday. - basic materials provided with students encouraged to bring along their own equipment or pre-order a selection of painting and drawing materials. - one all day excursion sketching outdoors with lunch at a local rainforest resort (lunch provided on Day 1 only). - morning and afternoon tea each day of the workshop. - daily admission to the Kuranda MagnaPool Aquatic Centre and/or Aquafitness Classes held at the Aquatic Centre on the days of the course only.
